Notburga of was an Austrian saint<\/strong>
and peasant from Tyrol. Notburga was born<\/strong>
about 1265 at Rattenberg on the Inn river.<\/strong>
She was a cook in the household of Count Henry<\/strong>
of Rattenberg, and used to give food to the poor.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notburga then worked for a farmer in Eben Austria.<\/strong>
The farmer came upon her in the field one evening<\/strong>
as she was setting down her sickle.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bell had rung for vespers and<\/strong>
the vigil for Sunday had just begun.<\/strong>
The farmer wanted her to continue working<\/strong>
but she insisted that no Christian should harvest<\/strong>
during the vigil in good weather.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps she declared that she should let her sickle decide.<\/strong>
She tossed it in the air and it hung there like a crescent moon,<\/strong>
a harbinger of good weather. And so Notburga went off<\/strong>
