The Encyclical Epistle Quamquam Pluries appealed to Joseph\u2019s \u201cfatherly love\u2026for the child Jesus\u201d and commended to him, as \u201cthe provident guardian of the divine Family,\u201d \u201cthe beloved inheritance which Jesus Christ purchased by his blood.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Since that time\u2013as I recalled at the beginning of this Exhortation\u2013the Church has implored the protection of St. Joseph on the basis of \u201cthat sacred bond of charity which united him to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God,\u201d and the Church has commended to Joseph all of her cares, including those dangers which threaten the human family.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Even today we have many reasons to pray in a similar way: \u201cMost beloved father, dispel the evil of falsehood and sin\u2026graciously assist us from heaven in our struggle with the powers of darkness\u2026and just as once you saved the Child Jesus from mortal danger, so now defend God\u2019s holy Church from the snares of her enemies and from all adversity.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pope St John Paul II<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One hundred years ago, Pope Leo XIII had already exhorted the Catholic world to pray for the protection of St. Joseph, Patron of the whole Church.
